Ben is Building a Career in Medicine

July 27, 2011
American-born Ben realized his dream of making aliyah to Israel through a youth program. Upon completion of his service in the IDF, Ben enrolled in The Hebrew University/Rothberg International School's Mechina program. Just before the school year started, Ben returned home to the US because his mother had fallen gravely ill. He postponed his studies and remained in the US to be with his family during this difficult period -- and to look for work to help support the family. Shortly after, Ben was in a car accident and sustained a severe head injury. Following his miraculous recovery, and fortified by tremendous determination, Ben returned to Israel and resumed his studies in the Mechina program. He excelled in all of his classes and scored high on the psychometric exam (the Israeli SAT). Ben plans to pursue a career in medicine, and thanks to the Mechina program and an indomitable spirit, he will accomplish this goal and other achievements he establishes for himself.
